It is a week based in one of Andalusia's hidden gems, with a different day trip every day.
And that changes everything.

Day 1 
Before exploring further afield, start with Medina Sidonia itself.
Give yourself a day to discover the town that will be your home for the week.
Walk through the historic centre and explore its extraordinary layers of history. Roman remains, medieval streets, churches, old walls and archaeological sites tell the story of a town that has occupied this strategic hilltop for thousands of years.
Visit the Roman archaeological complex, wander through the old streets and climb towards the Cerro del Castillo.
And then stop.
Look at the view.

In the afternoon, find a terrace and enjoy the slow rhythm of Andalusian life.
Try the town's famous alfajores, perhaps with a coffee, and let your first evening unfold without an itinerary.
You are not simply visiting Medina Sidonia.
You are staying in it.

Day 2 
After breakfast in Medina Sidonia, take the road to Cádiz for about 45 minutes driving.
There is no need to check into a hotel.
No suitcase.
No timetable beyond your own.
Cádiz is your destination for the day.
Explore the old city, walk through its narrow streets and elegant squares, visit the cathedral and discover the neighbourhoods that have grown around the Atlantic.
Then make the sea your guide.
Walk along the waterfront and continue towards La Caleta, Cádiz's wonderfully atmospheric city beach.
Have lunch with the flavours of the sea — fresh fish, seafood and the famous tortillitas de camarones.
Spend the afternoon exploring or simply sitting beside the Atlantic.
And when the day is finished, drive back to Medina Sidonia.
The city disappears behind you.
The hilltop rises ahead.
And you are home again.

Day 3
The third morning begins exactly where the second did:
Breakfast in Medina Sidonia.
Today, the road leads south about 30 minutes driving to Vejer de la Frontera .
Vejer is one of the great white villages of the province of Cádiz, with whitewashed houses, narrow lanes, hidden courtyards and magnificent views across the surrounding countryside.
Spend the morning simply wandering.
Discover the old town. Explore its historic streets. Stop for coffee or lunch and enjoy the relaxed rhythm of the village.
Then continue towards the Atlantic coast.
The beaches around El Palmar offer a completely different atmosphere: wide sands, dunes, surf and an enormous horizon.
Enjoy the afternoon by the sea.
Then turn back towards Medina Sidonia.
As evening approaches, you climb once again towards your hilltop base.
Another day explored. Another evening in Medina.

Day 4
Today, head inland for another 30 minutes drive.
Your destination is Jerez de la Frontera, the city of sherry, horses and flamenco.
Spend the day discovering its historic centre and, of course, its famous bodegas.
Learn how the region's sherry wines are made and take time to taste them in their place of origin.
Jerez also offers a fascinating insight into Andalusian equestrian culture. The relationship between the Andalusian horse, its rider and the traditions of the region is deeply rooted in the city's identity.
Have a leisurely lunch.
Explore a little more.
Perhaps find some flamenco in the afternoon.
And then — rather than staying overnight in Jerez — take the road back to Medina Sidonia.
The great advantage of having a base is that the day can be completely devoted to discovering Jerez.
Your evening remains your own.

Day 5 
Today is the biggest excursion of the week. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Seville.
Leave Medina Sidonia in the morning and make the journey to Andalusia's great capital.
Begin with the magnificent Real Alcázar, then explore the cathedral and the Giralda.
Afterwards, wander through Santa Cruz.
Stop for tapas.
Visit the spectacular Plaza de España.
Walk through María Luisa Park.
And, most importantly, leave some time simply to experience Seville.
Sit in a square. Have a coffee. Watch the city move around you.
Seville is a city that rewards atmosphere as much as sightseeing.
Then, in the late afternoon or evening, leave the capital behind.
The road takes you back towards Cádiz province.
And eventually, the lights of Medina Sidonia appear on the hill.
You return to your own room.
Your suitcase has never moved.

Day 6
For the final chapter, drive south.
The landscape changes as you approach Tarifa, Europe's southernmost city on the Spanish mainland.
Here, the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic — and across the Strait lies Africa.
Tarifa has an energy unlike anywhere else on the journey. It is historic yet youthful, relaxed yet adventurous, with ancient walls, whitewashed streets, cafés and some of Europe's most famous wind- and kitesurfing beaches.
Explore the old town, walk around the medieval walls and make your way to the coast.
Then stop.
Look across the water.
On a clear day, Morocco seems astonishingly close.
After a week of travelling through Andalusia, it is a fitting final image: Europe behind you, Africa ahead, and the Atlantic wind blowing through the streets of Tarifa.
